Through my experiences as an ADHD Coach, a woman, mother, and partner, I’ve found that the right resources can make a significant difference in understanding and managing ADHD effectively.

I also started a book club focused on ADHD, where I not only get to read a book about ADHD each month but also have the opportunity to discuss it with others.

Several new books came out last year, and I’m thrilled to include some of them as my top recommendations for those looking to learn more about their ADHD or support a loved one.

Here are my current top 6 book recommendations that have proven invaluable to my clients:

I’ve been a fan of Jessica’s YouTube videos for years, so I was extremely excited to read this book — and it did not disappoint!

How to ADHD is a comprehensive guide that dives deep into understanding ADHD from both scientific and personal perspectives. It breaks down complex concepts into easily digestible information, providing practical strategies for organization, time management, and improving focus. Jessica’s relatable anecdotes and actionable advice make this a must-read for anyone looking to gain better control over their daily lives.

Not only did this couple win The Amazing Race, but they also have a great podcast and entertaining social media channels. Their ADHD book is just as successful.

I appreciated their personal stories, expert insights, and useful tips. The colorful print and ADHD-friendly “small bites” writing style make it an easy and engaging read. The book covers what ADHD is, the struggles it brings, and the ways they’ve found to thrive as a family living with ADHD.

All the way from the UK, this candid and humorous memoir is a short but highly recommended read. Written by another couple, it provides a great opportunity to explore the effects of ADHD on both the individual with ADHD and their spouse.

Their personal journey, filled with honest insights into their struggles and triumphs, makes this book relatable and comforting for those who often feel misunderstood.

As a coach specializing in life transitions, with many clients who are retired or transitioning to retirement, I find this book especially important. This insightful read delves into the challenges adults face when dealing with ADHD. It addresses common issues such as maintaining relationships, managing careers, and achieving personal goals.

With a combination of expert advice and real-life examples, the author provides readers with tools to improve focus, increase productivity, and enhance their overall quality of life. It’s a valuable resource for adults seeking to understand and manage their ADHD more effectively.

I have many books on my bookshelf, but I can always find this one thanks to its amazing pink cover!

Aimed specifically at women with ADHD, this book offers a unique perspective on navigating life with this condition. Tracy Otsuka combines humor, personal anecdotes, and expert insights to address the unique challenges women face, such as balancing family, work, and personal aspirations. The book is filled with empowering strategies and practical advice that help women harness their strengths and live confidently with ADHD.

Authored by renowned experts in the field, this book offers the latest research and insights into ADHD. It introduces new strategies for managing symptoms, including innovative approaches to harnessing the brain’s inherent strengths.

The authors also discuss the impact of technology and modern lifestyles on ADHD, providing relevant and timely advice. This book is an excellent resource for understanding the neurobiology of ADHD and implementing effective coping mechanisms.

These are just a few of my top picks, but I’m always on the lookout for new and valuable reads.

So, what’s your favorite ADHD book? Which one should I be reading next?
